About MCHE

Who we are and what we do:

Muhlenberg County History Events (MCHE) focuses on sharing, saving, and supporting local and United States history. Whether MCHE is planning a stone reveal for veterans or posting informational content on our website, we are dedicated to keeping history relevant to people of all ages.

One facet of MCHE is to procure United States veterans new, legible grave markers through Veterans Affairs (VA). Working with VA, we obtain grave markers for pre-World War I servicemembers whose current headstones are illegible, broken, or show other signs of wear. To date, MCHE has secured 17 VA grave markers for past American soldiers, ranging in service from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. Ready to find out more or begin the application process? Simply head here!

MCHE is also dedicated to cemetery preservation in conjunction with our affiliate organization, Friends of Muhlenberg County Cemeteries (FMCC). In 2022, 40 cemeteries were maintained throughout the community. For every facet of history, MCHE is dedicated to sharing, saving, and supporting history so that we can save the past, in the present, for the future. Learn more about FMCC here.

MCHE is a small, volunteer organization created for those who are serious about Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, history and history from surrounding areas. MCHE specializes in Civil War history, but we specifically work to preserve history from 1770-1950.
